Joe created a family of survey-based metrics called “Time Well Spent” that led directly to changes in the ranking functions of Facebook News Feed, the Apple App Store, and other products at Apple, Google, and Facebook. Joe was also a co-founder of the Center for Humane Technology (which was then called "Time Well Spent").

Ellie’s work is at the intersection of meaning and broader societal transformation. She researches meaning centric social narratives, the theology of meaning and value, and economic and political systems designed around meaning. She leads partnerships and strategy at MAI and is currently working on spreading and legitimizing our vision for a meaning centric future amongst key stakeholders in AI, policy and the cultural sphere.

Oliver is an engineer and researcher, with a background building startups and a keen interest in continental philosophy. Most recently, he simulated democratic deliberation using LLMs.
